Late Payment Penalty

A $50 late payment penalty may be imposed for registrations or payments occurring after the payment deadline dates listed in the Dates and Deadlines. Fees are immediately due when you enroll in a course after the fee payment deadline.

**Please Note**

If fees are not paid in full by the payment deadline, the student's enrollment in all courses for all sessions will be dropped for non-payment. The Summer 2022 drops for non-payment occur May 17 (if enrolled by May 16) and on June 13 (if student registers after May 18). Students who are dropped for non-payment on May 17 will not be able to re-enroll in Session A until they have paid their fees. They will also not be able to re-enroll in Sessions B and C until May 18 unless they prepay at the Students First Center. Students who are dropped for non-payment on June 15 will not be able to re-enroll in Session B until they have paid their fees. They will also not be able to re-enroll in Session C until July 6 unless they pay their fees.

  • Seats will not be held for students who have been dropped for non-payment.
  • If a student who has not been dropped for non-payment adds a course after the fee payment deadline but before online registration closes, they will have until close of business the next day to pay their fees.
  • Any student who registers after online registration has closed will need to prepay their fees at the Students First Center before enrolling.

See the Dates and Deadline calendar for details.

Course Material Fees

Students may be charged fees in some courses for the use, rental or consumption of materials, tools or equipment, or for the costs of materials or services necessary to provide special supplemental educational experiences. For example, course material fees may cover the cost of chemicals and glassware for science laboratory or art supplies for studio classes. They also might cover film rentals, field trips or the purchase/rental of specific equipment.

International Student Service Fee

The International Student Service Fee is $200 for non-immigrant visa holders F-1, H-4 and J-2. This fee is in addition to the $100 International Student Visa Fee listed below.

Note: Both fees only apply to new international students and do not apply to continuing international students who wish to enroll in Summer Session.

International Student Visa Fee

$100 for F-1 visas sponsored by UC Merced. Checks made payable to "UC Regents" must be submitted to the International Center in the Kolligian Library room 101.

Note: International students on UC Merced sponsored visas must show additional funding to satisfy student visa regulations. See the cost of attending Summer Session for international students. Proof of financial support must be submitted to the International Student and Scholar Services Office before a Form I-20 can be issued.
