Fees

UC Merced staff welcome students

The following information reflects Summer Session 2024. Please note that fees are subject to change by the direction of the Regents of the University of California.

Certain campus-based fees are subject to Consumer Price Index (CPI) increases as well as increases related to projects and programs. Late Enrollment

Fees are immediately due when you enroll in a course after the fee payment deadline.

**Please Note**

If fees are not paid in full by the payment deadline in May for all sessions, the student's enrollment in all courses for all sessions will be dropped for non-payment. Students who are dropped for non-payment will not be able to re-enroll in Session A until they have paid their fees. They will also not be able to re-enroll in Sessions B and C unless they prepay at the Students First Center. Students who are dropped for non-payment on the June fee payment deadline will not be able to re-enroll in Session B or C until they have paid their fees.

Seats will not be held for students who have been dropped for non-payment.

  • If a student who has not been dropped for non-payment adds a course after the fee payment deadline but before online registration closes, they will have until the close of business the next day to pay their fees.
  • Any student who registers after online registration has closed will need to prepay their fees at the Students First Center before enrolling.

See the Dates and Deadline calendar for details.

Course Material Fees

Students may be charged fees in some courses for the use, rental, or consumption of materials, tools, or equipment, or for the costs of materials or services necessary to provide special supplemental educational experiences. For example, course material fees may cover the cost of chemicals and glassware for science laboratory or art supplies for studio classes. They also might cover film rentals, field trips, or the purchase/rental of specific equipment.

International Students

International students who are continuing UC Merced students or students at another University of California campus may apply for Summer Session at UC Merced. UC Merced is not currently able to process visas for international visiting students who have not matriculated at a UC campus.
